Kidnapping of the parents of Liverpool player Luis Diaz
Press reports said that the father and mother of the 26-year-old player were kidnapped in his country, yesterday, Saturday, by unknown people.
The Reds said: “Liverpool Football Club can confirm that it is aware of the ongoing situation involving Luis Diaz’s family in Colombia.”
He added: "We have every hope that this matter will be resolved safely and as soon as possible. In the meantime, the player's comfort will remain our immediate priority."
Liverpool is preparing to face Nottingham Forest at Anfield on Sunday evening, in the tenth round of the Premier League, and Luis Diaz is expected to be absent from this match.
English Liverpool announced, in an official statement, its solidarity with Diaz regarding the kidnapping of his parents, and the club statement said, “Liverpool Football Club can confirm that it is aware of the ongoing situation involving Luis Diaz’s family in Colombia.”
Hours ago, two men kidnapped Luis Manuel Diaz and Selenis Marulanda, the parents of Luis Diaz, the Liverpool FC striker, in Colombia yesterday, Saturday, according to local media. They were on their way home when the kidnappers intercepted them at a gas station in the rural province of Guajira, in the north of the country. Diaz's father was transported on a motorcycle, while his mother was transported in an SUV.
